Manufacturing Technology 1a credits per semester: 1 grades: 11-12
This course offers a sequence of learning experiences, which provide students with opportunities to develop skills needed for employment in the manufacturing industry field. Course content includes such skills as safety practices and personal safety, precision measurement, layout procedures, bench operation, hand tools, sheet metal, basic foundry and basic power tools as needed in manufacturing careers. Manufacturing Technology 1b credit per semester: 1 grades: 11-12
The second semester of manufacturing Technology 1 provides projects allowing students to continue to build manufacturing skills. The project will require that students observe basic machine safety and operations. As time permits, students will work with oxyacetylene welding and cutting, basic shielded metal arc wielding, and basic metal inter-gas welding. Students will be introduced to programmable logic control and computer numerical control of machining equipment. Upon completion of this course, students may be eligible for dual credit through John A Logan College.
