Williamson County Underwater Operations (established January 1988)

The Underwater Operations Unit of Williamson County Emergency Management Agency is composed of local volunteer divers.  The purpose of the Underwater Operations Unit is to help City, County, State, and Federal governmental agencies in the underwater aspect of law enforcement, body recovery, and inspections of underwater structures.

Often crimes can go undetected or unresolved if evidence of a crime is deposited underwater.  Because this agency provides underwater search and recovery services, evidence may be recovered and used to connect suspects to their crimes.

The dedicated divers in this unit are thoroughly trained in underwater search and recovery, underwater crime scene investigation, and have an overall knowledge of how to preserve the crime scene.

All members of the Underwater Operation Unit are volunteers.  All members are subject to a preliminary criminal background check.  Please apply in person by joining us for one the the monthly meetings.

If you are interested in joining the Underwater Operations Unit of WCEMA, please e-mail either Bob Connell or Eric Johns for more details about our membership.  We welcome experienced and non-experienced personnel.  We generally have one informal office meeting each month to cover specifics on budgets, trainings, ongoing or future projects. There is always something that needs to be completed or started.  The job of the Public Safety Diver is continuous.  We encourage our membership to participate as they wish, however, the majority of our membership play very active roles within the organization.  Many of our members have specific skills offering a successful mix and sense of community, service, and even honor in appreciation for the efforts of others on the team.
